Special Observers

The Special Observers category includes Observers who have been granted additional privileges to support the CAR-WEN’s operations. Eligible stakeholders include individuals and organisations from non-party governments, civil society, academic institutions, multilateral organisations, and other relevant groups with demonstrated expertise.

Currently, Special Observers can:

  • Join network-only sessions – Attend selected meetings or sessions that are not open to general Observers, when invited to contribute expertise.

  • Access targeted materials – Receive access to specific non-public documents or information relevant to assigned tasks, subject to applicable confidentiality requirements.

  • Participate in technical work – Contribute to working groups, committees, task forces, and project teams to support the development and implementation of CAR-WEN initiatives.

On a case-by-case basis, Special Observers are nominated for these roles and confirmed by decision of the Working Group Co-Chairs.

As the CAR-WEN continues to grow, we look forward to identifying additional opportunities for Special Observers to contribute to wildlife enforcement and biodiversity protection across the Wider Caribbean and beyond.
