Catalysing Pilot Projects

Catalysing Pilot Projects implements small-scale, high-impact initiatives to showcase effective wildlife enforcement approaches under the CAR-WEN.

Our key pilot project activities include:

  • Identifying Potential Pilot Projects. Selecting short-term, results-oriented efforts such as rapid wildlife crime assessments, legal reviews, or mobile app development that address pressing enforcement challenges.

  • Developing Project Concepts & Proposals. Defining clear objectives, methodologies, and budgets for each pilot to secure the necessary support.

  • Securing Funding & Resources. Building partnerships with donors, agencies, and organisations to obtain financial and technical resources.

  • Implementing Pilot Projects with Stakeholder Participation. Engaging local partners in the planning and execution phases, ensuring ownership and relevance.

  • Scaling Up Successful Projects & Sharing Lessons. Expanding successful models, refining approaches based on initial outcomes, and disseminating best practices for broader regional adoption.

Through targeted demonstrations of effective enforcement approaches, Catalysing Pilot Projects builds stakeholder confidence and prepares the ground for broader CAR-WEN activities. See the CAR-WEN Strategic Plan and our Catalysing Pilot Projects Strategy Diagram for additional details on these activities and intended outcomes.
