Network Facilitation

Network Facilitation is a foundational strategy in establishing the CAR-WEN. This strategy prioritises strengthening collaboration among governmental stakeholders involved in wildlife enforcement across the 47 countries and territories of the Wider Caribbean. By connecting national enforcement authorities, customs, judicial entities, wildlife management agencies, and other governmental actors, we enhance regional capacity and ensure coordinated actions against wildlife crime.

Our core network facilitation activities include:

  • Engaging Governmental Stakeholders & Building Partnerships. Identifying and collaborating with governmental agencies critical to the CAR-WEN's success and formalising partnerships that enhance wildlife enforcement efforts across the Caribbean.

  • Establishing Communication Channels & Collaboration Platforms. Setting up reliable communication tools (e.g., email lists, collaboration software) and protocols to streamline coordination.

  • Facilitating Intergovernmental Meetings & Workshops. Hosting regular virtual meetings, forums, and capacity-building workshops to share knowledge, plan joint activities, and strengthen relationships across the region.

  • Creating a Governmental Stakeholder Database. Maintaining a centralised resource that consolidates member information and fosters efficient communication.

  • Monitoring & Evaluating Network Engagement. Tracking metrics such as active membership, new partnership agreements, and collaborative projects to gauge overall effectiveness.

Through targeted governmental collaboration and practical tools for coordination, Network Facilitation builds a cohesive foundation for robust wildlife enforcement across the Caribbean. Refer to the CAR-WEN Strategic Plan and our Network Facilitation Strategy Diagram for more details on this strategy’s activities and intended outcomes.
