Network Facilitation
Network Facilitation underpins all of CAR-WEN’s efforts by connecting diverse stakeholders—including governments, civil society organizations, and local communities—to create unified responses to wildlife crime.
Our key network facilitation activities include:
Facilitating Meetings, Workshops & Strategic Dialogues. Organizing regular stakeholder gatherings—from ordinary working sessions to high-level fora—to share knowledge, plan joint activities, and align on network priorities.
Engaging New Members & Building Partnerships. Identifying and reaching out to critical stakeholders—government agencies, NGOs, enforcement bodies, and grassroots groups—to form collaborative alliances.
Developing & Finalizing a CAR-WEN MOU. Working towards a signed Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes governance structures, roles, and long-term strategic objectives for the network. A clear MOU strengthens regional buy-in, cements institutional commitments, and serves as a foundation for future growth.
Monitoring & Evaluating Network Performance. Tracking performance metrics—such as active membership, partnership agreements, and collaborative projects—to assess how effectively the network is functioning.
International Representation & Advocacy. Participating in global fora like CITES conferences, INTERPOL meetings, and international environmental summits to raise the network’s profile, attract resources, and align with global best practices.
By uniting diverse partners under a shared mission and establishing clear channels for communication and collaboration, Network Facilitation ensures that enforcement measures against wildlife crime are coordinated, strategic, and far-reaching. Rooted in our Network Establishment and Network Management strategies detailed in our Strategic Plan, this program amplifies all other initiatives within CAR-WEN, enabling a stronger, more effective response to wildlife crime challenges across the region.
